Getting to know HubSpot Commerce Hub [VIDEO Q&A]

2 mins read

Well, we're mid-way through Q1 2024 and the rollout of Commerce Hub to companies outside of just the USA is well underway.

I caught up with Ranya Barakat, Head of Technical Solutions here at Avidly HubSpot Solutions, to get all the information you need to know about Commerce Hub.

Enjoy and if you've any questions, just get in touch...

Want to discuss Commerce Hub or other HubSpot queries with Ranya?

First, what is Commerce Hub? What does it do? Who is it for?

Commerce Hub allows companies to take payments from inside their HubSpot portal.

It helps SMBs to get paid faster, increase revenue, and save time.

It's native to your HubSpot portal and means no need to jump from technology to technology. Also, there's the added benefit of it being tied directly to your HubSpot CRM and therefore at the centre of your HubSpot data.

What's Ranya and Avidly's involvement in Commerce Hub?

Ranya is a member of the HubSpot Payments Customer Advisory board. She works directly with Jack Coopersmith and the product development team at HubSpot.

Because Ranya works with Avidly HubSpot Solutions' customers on their technology projects, she is perfectly placed to be the conduit between HubSpot's product team and their end users.

She has early insight into where the product is going and can guide customers on the best solutions as a result.

How is Commerce Hub different from other payment solutions?

It's part of your HubSpot CRM and other Hubs. You have one less technology to manage if using HubSpot Commerce Hub.

Not only does data feed into / lean on data in your CRM, it also allows you to use HubSpot for:

  • Invoices
  • Payment links
  • Quotes

It helps save time by giving you the ability to:

  • Create custom billing automation to suit your billing cycles or behavioural triggers
  • Use reliable and direct revenue reporting inside your HubSpot portal
  • Integrate natively with QuickBooks

Who will use Commerce Hub the most and who is not a good fit for?

Commerce Hub will mostly be used by small and medium sized businesses that offer products or services which can be paid for in an e-Commerce style. For example,

  • Consultants selling advice sessions / charge per hour
  • Training providers selling a standardised program or workshop
  • Professional service providers who send regular payment amounts on a retainer

However, Commerce Hub is not a fit for high volume e-commerce or highly-bespoke service transactions. It's also not a good fit for Enterprise scale volume of any of these things.

Is Commerce Hub now available globally?

At the time of writing (March 2024), Commerce Hub is available for USD, CAD, EUR and GBP currencies and for customers using the US and EU servers.

The plan is for Commerce Hub to roll out globally based on currencies rather than territories.

Where do you see Commerce Hub growing in the future?

As with all new HubSpot Hubs, the launch version is far from the finished product. The fact they've elevated HubSpot Payments tool to a full Hub means that it's got ongoing development and backing.

Commerce Hub will grow into a fully functioning payment collection tool to help make HubSpot the business-wide solution it intends to be.
